Who We Are

Greek Life was founded at the University of Maryland in 1912 and now has 4 councils: The Panhellenic Association, the Interfraternity Council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Multicultural Greek Council.   University of Maryland Panhellenic Association is the governing body for the 16 National Panhellenic Conference sororities on campus.  Each sorority elects a delegate to represent their chapter during the school year, sharing information, discussing issues of concern and interest, and voting on policies and procedures. Ten women are elected to serve on the Executive Board, and a staff advisor from the Department of Fraternity and Sorority Life works closely with them.

I want

a place to feel like home

Each year, around 1,000 girls find a place to call home in our community on campus. Similar to you, they were once searching for a place where they could make lasting memories, confide in others, experience new things, and grow in themselves. By joining our community you too can find a place to feel at home.

Learn

The Panhellenic community fosters a culture of academic success that goes beyond individual effort. Through collaborative learning such as group study sessions, scholarship support that recognizes and rewards academic achievement within our chapters, and building a support network our members are given various support systems for academic excellence.

These combined efforts contribute to our members consistently maintaining a higher average GPA compared to the overall female student body on campus.
